Brandishing Ye Olde X-acto Knife

Just finished up one of the coolest projects we've ever worked on. Really. Of course, the video will be used to pitch a top-secret game idea from a top-secret game developer, so we can't say one word about it yet.

What we can tell you is, the project gave us a wonderful opportunity to get our hands dirty -- literally -- and break in our new studio proper-like. It was refreshing to step away from the digital cleanliness of Photoshop, After Effects and Final Cut and pick up physical tools for a change. The project allowed us to invoke some of our nigh forgotten skills of yesteryear: carpentry, sewing, carving, model painting, and yes, even puppetry. It allowed us to once again brandish Ye Olde X-acto Knife, to wield hammers akimbo (yeah!!), to meld wood on wood with the Glue of Gorillas.

The process itself filled us with inspiration. When asked, "Will there be stop-motion in our future?" the Magic 8 Ball replied "As I see it, yes."

New Site / The Pains of Growing

We are in the process of moving our website to Squarespace (which we absolutely love so far). The new site structure is going to allow us MUCH more flexibility in adding new content and project updates. The downside is that our domain registrar is old and busted, causing our email and "real" slackcircus.com website to be down. We should be back to 100% very soon. Thanks for stopping by!

We'll be ok.... as long as we've got each other...

Straight Out Of The Box

SLACKCiRCUS just got its new Canon 7D. We couldn't wait to start playing, so we shot a few things around the office and slapped them in a line.

I'd really like to have done a half decent edit; but for all it lacks in edit, it makes up for with some nice examples of what this camera is capable of. The lens is a Canon 17-55mm/2.8. Music is The Sea and Cake.

Interview with Signed In: An Xbox 360 Podcast

How did we not know about Signed In: An Xbox 360 Podcast? Come to think of it, why aren't you subscribed to it and listening to it every other Monday? These guys are fantastic.

This week SC's Jay Allen joins Josh Bear from Twisted Pixel and Matt "Chainsaw" Chaney from GL33k in a group interview about our work on Splosion Man.

We recommend listening to the whole show, but if impatience compels you, the Splosion Man interview starts at 1:25:10.

Check out the interview here.
