Introducing Secret Powers

Earlier this year, we decided it was time to update the look of the Slackcircus brand. The creative process had other plans for us, however. What started as a full visual reboot of Slackcircus concluded triumphantly with the formation of a brand new division called Secret Powers.

"We think of Secret Powers as a code name for an organization that’s been underground but actively fighting crime for years. It’s a question-marked box containing the power-up you need to get past That One Part. It’s the shadowy division of Slackcircus that no one knew about until a certain upstart reporter started asking the right questions."

Secret Powers is a division focused exclusively on the video game industry. Read the full story at our new web site.

Wufoo & Excellent Times

It was a pleasure to collaborate with Kevin Hale and the team at Wufoo in designing and animating their new promotional video.  Today on the Wufoo Blog, Kevin shares about the project and the folks who made it happen.

Here at the SC, we'd love to spend all of our time working on game videos and crazy animation experiments.  But, as a small business, we are confronted daily with Things That Must Be Dealt With.  These small Things can quickly turn into Major Hassles if we let them. And as much as we'd like to avoid these Things sometimes, we've learned that we must find efficient ways to transform these Things from Major Hassles into Excellent Times. We firmly believe that if we can master this particular brand of Loganian alchemy, we can be more productive, and therefore have more time to work on the things we love.

This is why we use outstanding web-based services like Basecamp, Squarespace, Vimeo and now, Wufoo: Excellent Times. When you 1) give people an easy way to perform an important task and 2) make it an excellent user experience you are providing 3) Excellent Times. For this very reason, we were instant fans of Wufoo, what they do, and how they do it.

This video would not have been possible without the fantastic illustrations of Nick Sirotich, and the golden voiceover, sound design, and music from Chris Sabat and OkraTron5000.

Vimeo Award Winners Announced

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 2010 Vimeo Awards! Although we didn't win the Remix category, we were thrilled to be nominated to the Top 5.

The remix category presentation of the Vimeo Awards was introduced with a special performance by Eclectic Method. The video installation they built for the show was gorgeous. Check it out! Congrats to kasumi for winning the category!

Our segment appears at 2:08.

"Front Mission Evolved" Interactive Trailer

We've had a very busy summer. Very. Busy. There's so much to share and no time to share it. Our website's self esteem is no doubt taking a huge hit due to the neglect.

One project that's been occupying our monitors quite a lot is Front Mission Evolved from Double Helix and Square Enix. This summer, we've kicked out an Announcement Trailer, two TV spots and this little gem, the "Interactive Trailer."

We handled game capture and editing for this web video feature, which Haven Interactive designed, built and generally made awesome. As we've become intimately familiar with this title over the past 6 months, we can say without hesitation this is a really fun game to play.

Destructoid also did a nice little post about it. Encouraged to see people like this type of presentation.
